Understanding Jowls and Their Causes
Jowls are the sagging or loose skin along the jawline that can occur as a result of several factors:
- Natural ageing process: As we age, skin loses collagen and elasticity, causing it to sag.
- Genetics: Some people are more predisposed to developing jowls due to inherited facial structure and skin characteristics.
- Lifestyle factors: Sun exposure, smoking, and poor diet can contribute to premature skin ageing.
- Gravity: Over time, the effects of gravity may cause the skin and muscles to drop, leading to the appearance of jowls.
While the formation of jowls is a natural part of the ageing process, many people choose to explore non-surgical treatments to restore the contour and lift of their jawline.
At The Lounge Aesthetics, we specialise in lifting and contouring the jawline, addressing jowls with precision to achieve subtle and natural-looking results. Our approach focuses on enhancing your natural features while providing a refreshed, youthful appearance that enhances your confidence.
Our treatments are designed to:
- Lift and tighten sagging skin along the jawline
- Enhance definition in the lower face for a more sculpted look
- Restore volume to areas that may have lost structure over time
- Provide natural-looking rejuvenation without affecting your facial expressions
With our non-invasive techniques, we aim to create a balanced, lifted jawline that looks completely natural and refreshed.
What to Expect During a Consultation
Your journey to a rejuvenated jawline begins with a personalised consultation where we assess your facial anatomy, skin condition, and aesthetic goals. We will discuss:
- The underlying causes of your jowls and how to address them
- Which treatments will provide the best results for your face
- A clear outline of the treatment plan, including the timeline and aftercare
After Your Jowl Rejuvenation Treatment
Once your treatment is complete, you’ll start noticing gradual improvements in the appearance of your jawline. Full results are typically visible within 7–14 days as the skin settles and adapts.
Some mild side effects, such as temporary redness or swelling, are common but resolve quickly.
Post-treatment care includes:
- Avoiding pressure or massage to the treated areas for 24 hours
- Postpone vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours to allow the skin to settle
- Avoiding heavy makeup or skincare products for the first 24 hours
We’ll guide you through a simple aftercare routine to ensure you get the most out of your treatment.
How long do results last?
The duration of results varies, but most people enjoy the benefits for several months. Regular touch-ups help maintain a youthful contour and lift.
Will I still be able to express myself naturally?
Absolutely! Our treatments are designed to enhance your features naturally without affecting your ability to express yourself. The goal is a subtle lift, not a dramatic change.
How soon will I see results?
You’ll begin noticing improvements soon after treatment, with full results visible within 7–14 days.
Is there any downtime?
There’s minimal downtime associated with our treatments. You may experience some mild swelling or redness, but this typically resolves within a few hours to a day.
Why can’t you advertise anti-wrinkle injections, botox, dermal filler, or lip filler treatments online?
In March 2024, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) strengthened its rules around how cosmetic injectable services can be advertised in Australia. The TGA reminded healthcare providers that treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, fat-dissolving injections, lip fillers, and similar products are Schedule 4 prescription medicines. Because of this, they cannot be promoted in any form of advertising.
The rules also prevent clinics from showing before-and-after photos or listing prices for these treatments. The TGA can issue fines or take legal action against businesses that breach these guidelines.
The TGA explains that clinics must not make any direct or indirect reference to prescription-only substances when advertising cosmetic services. This applies to full names, shortened terms, nicknames, abbreviations, acronyms, hashtags, and anything else a consumer could reasonably link to a prescription medicine.
This includes references such as:
- Anti-wrinkle injections
- Botox
- Dermal fillers
- Lip filler
- Injectable products used to improve the appearance of submental fullness
Because of these regulations, detailed information about these treatments can only be discussed during a private consultation with a qualified practitioner.
